Miami University — Associate Director of Intercultural Initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Education in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, College Personnel, Counseling, or related field.
  • Three to five years of full-time working experience in Multicultural/Diversity Affairs, Leadership/Student Development, Student Activities, or related area in a university setting.
  • Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations.
  • Proven effectiveness in human relations including the ability to relate well with all segments of campus.
  • Strong assessment background required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Required knowledge of Student Development Theory, Racial and Ethnic Identity Development, Feminist, Queer and Transnationalism Theory as well.
  • Act as student advocate.
  • Experience planning large scale events.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Group facilitation skills required.
  • Design programs to serve Multicultural and LGBTQ+ populations including outreach to International Students.
  • Demonstrate strong computer competence, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and social media and marketing mediums.
  • Able to create and direct new initiatives as well as oversee program departmental assessment and reporting of key performance indicators.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Counsel, mentor and assist Multicultural and LGBTQ+ populations with personal, academic, and other university concerns.
  • Website management and development skills.
