Kutztown University of Pennsylvania — Tenure Track Position in Graduate Reading Program

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,300 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The University is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Department of Elementary, Middle Level, Library and Technologies at Kutztown University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level for Fall 2022. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service. Requirements for the position: Required: A doctorate (ABD will be considered with evidence of completion by start of fall 2022 semester classes) and master’s degree in education, completion of a reading specialist program, reading specialist certification, a minimum of five years of experience as a school reading specialist, a minimum of three years classroom teaching experience in grades PreK-6, and elementary education certification.

Evidence of effective teaching, service, leadership, and scholarship in literacy within professional settings related to teaching children, experience working with ELL students, experience teaching in higher education and experience working with diverse populations, publications and presentations are preferred. Candidates with expertise in culturally responsive/sustaining approaches and experience with culturally and linguistically diverse communities are especially encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities include: Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy and field supervision of students during the school day. Successful interview and demonstration lesson required.
