Cleveland State University — Assistant Professor of Film & Media Arts

Position Description: The School of Film and Media Arts at Cleveland State University is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor in Film & Media Arts – Post-production and Production, starting August 22, 2022. The position requires teaching five undergraduate courses per year, engagement in usual university service, and sustained development of creative work demonstrated through a substantial exhibition record and other forms of professional recognition including scholarship.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • MFA in film or a related field
  • Two years of successful teaching experience at the university level
  • Three years of professional industry experience
  • Ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the CSU community

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • A strong professional background and experience in multiple aspects of post-production including digital effects and motion graphics
  • A strong familiarity with the production techniques needed for compositing, and a familiarity with video production basics
  • Prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness demonstrated through syllabi, student evaluations, and a successful body of student work
  • The ability to teach a broad variety of film and media arts courses particularly beginning and advanced editing, beginning, intermediate and advanced level visual effects, and beginning level production 
  • The ability to teach animation, sound design, graphics or other specialty areas within the discipline
