The University of Tennessee at Martin — Assistant Professor of Social Work

The University of Tennessee at Martin and Department of Behavioral Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Social Work to begin in August 2022. Housed within the Department of Behavioral Sciences, the University of Tennessee at Martin Social Work Program offers the BSSW degree to students at UT Martin’s primary campus as well as five satellite campuses. The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the state-wide University of Tennessee System, with a combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment of approximately 7,000 students. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. 

Job Description: This is a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position with the BSSW program. The selected candidate’s teaching area will include generalist undergraduate courses in the BSSW curriculum. A commitment to diversity and student success is essential. Job duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) course instruction, course development, advising, service, and professional scholarship. 

Required Qualifications: MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program with a minimum of two years post-MSW practice experience. We seek motivated candidates who demonstrate initiative, exercise independent judgment, and have the ability to complete required tasks while working on competing demands. 

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to required qualifications, a preferred candidate would have an earned doctorate in social work or closely related field (ABD will be considered), record of demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college or university level, experience in distance learning and/or online course delivery, academic advising, recruitment, and knowledge of CSWE accreditation.
