Rhode Island School of Design is actively seeking an Executive Director, Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness to join the Office of the Provost. The Executive Director, Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership for the use of systematic and data-informed research and analysis to support institutional decision-making and planning, external accreditation and federal/state reporting, and educational assessment and review. This position oversees the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and its staff. It also develops, manages, and strategizes about research, data, and analysis needed to support RISD’s mission and goals based in input and information from senior leadership. The incumbent in this position manages processes of surveying and data collection and leads fulfillment of RISD’s accreditation and federal/state requirements, including major reports, periodic reports, and completion of institutional self-studies. The Executive Director oversees the integrity of data and its use across the institution and researches and supports best practices for program assessment and review in higher education and in schools of art and design.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in higher education administration, with a broad understanding of current practices and frameworks around institutional research, data management, and accreditation and assessment
  • Minimum of three years management experience required
  • Demonstrable record of discretion regarding confidential information and ability to manage detailed reporting and multiple deadlines
  • Experience in working with multiple constituents, including faculty, students, staff, as well as external visitors and representatives
  • Ability to influence others outside of span of control
  • Demonstrated experience representing an institution with national accrediting bodies and other commissions
  • Proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse backgrounds and interests
