Four Black Faculty Members Who Are Taking on New Assignments

Nathaniel Wright, an assistant professor of political science and director of the master of public administration program at Texas Tech University has been given the added duties as the new assistant dean for strategic initiatives.

Dr. Wright earned a bachelor’s degree and a master of public administration degree from Binghamton University in New York. He completed his doctorate in public administration from the University of Kansas in 2014.

Yolanda Cooper was named the Lindseth Family University Librarian at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. When she takes office on January 1, Cooper will also hold the title of vice provost. She has been serving as dean and University Librarian at Emory University in Atlanta. Earlier, she held senior library posts at the University of Miami and the University of Virginia.

Cooper earned a bachelor’s degree and a master of library and information science degree from Indiana University, where she also served as assistant dean for library human resources from 1999 to 2003.

Kerry Lee is a new assistant professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. Her research centers on understanding the factors related to family violence perpetration among racial and ethnic minorities and other marginalized populations.

Dr. Lee earned a master of social work degree at the University of the West Indies in Mona, Jamaica. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland Baltimore.

Andia Augustin-Billy is a new assistant professor of French and Francophone studies at Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. Her research interests include analysis of gender and sexuality in 19th and 20th-century French literature, travel literature, and themes of migration and exile in Francophone African and Caribbean literatures and cultures.

Dr. Augustin-Billy received a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in French language and literatures from Washington University in St. Louis.
