Coastal Carolina University — Assistant / Associate Professor of Educational Leadership

The Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal Carolina University announces a full-time tenure track position in Educational Leadership beginning August 2022.

The College offers both a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Education. The Ph.D. degree includes specializations in Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, and Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. The M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Educational Leadership programs are designed to provide advanced professional studies in graduate-level coursework for candidates who are interested becoming leaders within the K-12 setting. Opportunities are provided to work with coordinators, directors, and experienced leaders within K-12 education, both inside the classroom and throughout clinical experiences. The programs prepare these leaders to be committed to continuous growth while building a base of knowledge, skills and dispositions that will enable them to be successful in K-12 leadership, including principal and coordinator positions.

The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with the program coordinator and other program faculty to: teach courses in the M.Ed. program and the Ph.D. specializations in Educational Leadership; actively participate in established and new program curriculum and assessments development and analysis; provide advisement and mentorship to students; participate in program, departmental, college, and university governance; represent the program with external constituencies; provide assistance with the recruitment and retention of students; and engage in relevant professional activities and scholarship.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned Ph.D./ Ed.D. degree in Educational Leadership or a closely related discipline
  • A minimum of three years of successful experience in K-12 Leadership, including experience as a principal
  • Potential for excellence in teaching at the university level, specifically graduate level, based on previous teaching excellence
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and building meaningful partnerships
  • Experience successfully integrating effective and innovative technology into teaching and learning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching courses in Educational Leadership at the Masters, Educational Specialist, and/or Doctoral level (including hybrid and online courses)
  • Experience with program assessment and accreditation
  • Experience with coordinating programs and/or organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills
