Valencia College is now hiring a full time Director, Horizon Scholars Program to join the Partnerships for Educational Equity team and provide college wide leadership for the Horizon Scholars Program.

We are looking for someone passionate about community and transforming student’s lives to make an impact in a positive way. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide unique set of resources including mentors, scholarships, student advocacy, leadership development and opportunities for civic engagement. In this role, you will work in partnership with Take Stock in Children to break the cycle of poverty for students and their families in Central Florida while giving students the chance to achieve their career and educational goals. 

This role will require you to provide leadership for the on-going operation, growth and expansion of the Horizon Scholars Program (HSP). You will ensure ongoing efforts to support the program goals. There will be collaboration with a range of partners which will include the Assistant Director, other HSP staff, Marketing and Media Relations, College Transitions, and Orange County Public Schools personnel to lead the implementation, development, organization, and administration of the HSP.

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution 
  • Experience in student engagement and outreach to minoritized groups 
  • Knowledge and experience with college access initiatives and ability to collaborate with range of partners 
  • Experience with outreach, social work, community engagement 
  • Strong experience operating at a manager level with high performing team 
  • A demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion.

Salary: $54,881 – $66,543 per year
