Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College seeks a full-time Operations Manager (State title: Staff Associate). As an integral part of the operations team, assisting in multiple areas with multiple projects, this position will act as the operational point of contact for Central and Western NY locations and will report directly to the Senior Director of Operations. The Operations Manager will be responsible for:

  • Serving as the Sr. Director’s designee at the local level on behalf of statewide operations in specific regional locations. Assure effective implementation of continuing operations plan.
  • Collaborating with Academic Affairs, Recruiters, Retention, Academic Support, facilities, and student services to ensure efficient operations in all locations of the region.
  • Ensuring all locations feel and look professional and welcoming and are representing the SUNY Empire brand.
  • Serving as point of contact with various location landlords.
  • Coordinating and managing budgeting in locations and regions of responsibility in collaboration with the Sr. Director and appropriate Office of Administration Staff.
  • Developing and maintaining policies and procedures for statewide centralized operations manual.
  • Managing college location rosters, offices, floor plans, moves, vendor information, etc. and update accordingly.
  • Monitoring the suspension of operations and cancellation of activities for weather or emergency reasons.
  • Development of streamlining, and collaborating processes in the Office Administration and College wide, especially between Operations and Facilities. This would include streamlining move and/or close out policies and procedures with all departments.
  • Work closely with the Sr. Director and OAA leadership to identify and implement changing roles, tasks, and responsibilities.
  • Continue and support effective communications plan in locations.
  • Direct supervisor responsibility.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Operations contacts in ensuring commonality of practice across the College’s statewide footprint.
  • Collaborate and contribute to effective relationships with colleagues, across the region, the college and in in the community.
  • Provide support for One Stop Student Services initiative through identifying additional challenges and opportunities to assure effective access, use and increase in service provided at the locations in the region.
  • Supporting Community engagement and outreach.
  • Demonstrate initiative and leadership in problem solving and decision making.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, management or related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in operations, with experience in budget and contract management.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with leading teams and working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education or with SUNY.

Special Information:

  • This position is located in our Central or Western NY locations, preferably in Rochester and will cover Western, Central, and Southern Tier areas.
  • Travel to SUNY Empire locations across NYS will be required.
  • VISA sponsorship is not available for this position.

Additional Information:

Rank/Salary: SL4/$60,000-$65,000 (Commensurate with experience)
