Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College’s Information Technology Services seeks an Electronic & Information Technology Accessibility (EITA) Program Assistant (State title: Staff Assistant) to support the development and implementation of EITA processes and policies at the college. The incumbent will collaborate with educational technologists and other professionals at the college on rolling out and tracking training programs, researching software and accessibility projects, and providing administrative assistance to the EITA Officer and EITA Committee.

This position is a temporary position through May 2022, with the possibility of a 1-year renewal.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible providing administrative support to EITA officer and staff working on EITA projects.
  • Provide support for development and roll out of accessibility training program.
  • Create and maintain an documentation for projects and activities in EITA.
  • Collaborate with groups across the college to connect users to resources and trainings as needed.
  • In conjunction with EITA staff conduct web research on policies, laws and processes related to EITA.
  • Work on special projects as deemed relevant and be available as needed for EITA, EET, and other support during critical periods
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in education/higher education settings with experience in instructional/educational technology, accessibility, special education, or project management.
  • Proficiency in a variety of educational technologies, including learning management systems, other tools used in higher education.
  • Strong communication and interaction skills to assess user needs and provide appropriate support.
  • Understanding of supporting students with accessibility concerns.
  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Able to organize, categorize, and prioritize workload effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision.
  • Able to foster cooperative relationships with a diverse academic community, including instructional designers and faculty.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education, special education, or instructional technology/design, or related academic field.
  • Knowledge of project management, adult learning, instructional design methodology, technology-mediated learning, and learning theory.
  • Understanding of universal design, accessibility and assistive technologies in higher education.

  • This position can be at any one of our regional locations
  • Some travel may be required

Additional Information:

Rank/Salary:  SL2/$45,000+ (Commensurate with qualifications)
