Principal Duties: The Purdue University Honors College, West Lafayette, invites applications for a clinical-track faculty position. We seek candidates from all areas of STEM who are dedicated, innovative teachers, can offer courses in our interdisciplinary honors curriculum, and develop programming for highly motivated students. Required duties include: teaching in the first-year honors course series on topics related to the candidate’s field of speciality; offering specialty honors seminars; and working with Honors College faculty and staff to develop a programmatic area of specialty (e.g., undergraduate research or residential life) to support a vibrant residential college. Students in all classes will be from a variety of majors. The normal work-load is 2-2 teaching, 1-1 programmatic, with expectations for scholarship. Scholarship may be in the areas of engagement (https://www.purdue.edu/engagement/scholarship-of-engagement/), teaching and learning, or the applicant’s disciplinary area (start up funding unavailable). This is a full-time appointment at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenured). Initial contract is three years, with review in the third year; rank promotion possible. The position begins August 2022.

Qualifications: Ph.D. required in STEM-related fields. Candidates must demonstrate teaching ability and interdisciplinary range. Applicants should demonstrate experience or ideas for implementing innovative teaching techniques and working with a diverse student population. Demonstrated record of work with communities beyond university campuses will be especially valued. The nine-month salary will be based on education and experience. The College: The Honors College is Purdue’s interdisciplinary college that serves highly motivated undergraduate students from every disciplinary school in the university. It is an academic-residential environment, grounded in four pillars: interdisciplinary academics, undergraduate research, global and community engagement, and leadership development. The college has 2,700 undergraduate students, who, in addition to their major, complete a curriculum that helps them achieve these aims. Faculty and staff have a high degree of interaction with students and develop programming to support the curricular aims of the Honors College.
