Haverford College — Tenure-Line Faculty and Director Position in Gender and Sexuality Studies

Haverford College invites applications for a tenure-line Faculty (open rank) and Director position in Gender and Sexuality Studies, to begin Fall semester of 2022.

We seek scholars who are well versed in evolving theories of gender and sexuality, open to interdisciplinary work, conversant with and willing to engage concepts relating to gender and sexuality as they have developed in different disciplines, and work with principles of intersectionality. Additionally, we expect familiarity with the major texts of: western, transnational, and third world feminist traditions; lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, and transgender studies; masculinity and men’s studies; feminist politics; and queer and LGBT activism.

The successful candidate will develop and teach introductory and capstone courses that highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the program, in addition to courses in the area of their scholarly expertise. We seek scholars who can teach and mentor a diverse body of undergraduate students with a range of academic interests, experiences, and backgrounds. We are particularly interested in candidates who have administrative experience in building and growing programs, and who demonstrate the capacity to build a multidisciplinary program and establish productive collaborations with faculty and students across disciplinary boundaries.

The candidate’s doctoral degree must be in Gender and Sexuality Studies, Women’s Studies, Feminist Studies, or a closely related field, as evidenced by their research agenda, publications, and teaching experience. Candidates must have completed all Ph.D. requirements by September 1, 2022.

Applications completed by November 15, 2021 will receive full consideration. Shortly before Thanksgiving, we will contact applicants whose candidacy we wish to pursue further with a request for three letters of recommendation, which will be due on December 3, 2021.
