Job-Specific Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Career Services, the Assistant Director of Career Development & Education collaborates closely with Assistant Directors of Programs, Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs, and Associate Dean of Strategic Partnerships to support Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE) student and alumni career advancement. Specific responsibilities include:

Career Development & Education Modules (40%)

  • Project manage the Career Decision Making Module obtaining a 70% enrollment of incoming class
    • Organize alumni success coaches
    • Create communication Marketing Cloud journeys based on registration data extensions
    • Determine synchronous programming based on registrations
    • Scheduled speakers for synchronous programming
    • Create program reports from registration and Hub profiles in Salesforce
  • Collaborate with Assistant Directors of Programs
    • Adapt and create modules on Canvas based on program needs
    • Assist program directors with panels based on roles or module topics.
    • Communicate to students for an 80% completion of Hub profiles.
  • Create feedback loops from students and assistant directors of programs to implement changes to modules

Alumni Affairs Collaboration (30%)

  • Project manage SAMI mentor outreach to students in close collaboration with Assistant Director of Alumni Affairs
  • Co-lead Mid-Career Summit and Career Management post HGSE event for alumni
  • Project manage two alumni day of service opportunities
  • Provide Alumni Affairs updates on Graduate Plans Information using Salesforce

Career Coaching (30%)

  • Utilizing career and coaching theories, meet with students in one-to-one 20-minute sessions, which are collaborative, based on mutuality, and cooperative with a goal of moving students forward in obtaining their career goals

Term position for one year from date of hire with the possibility of renewal.

Typical Core Duties

  • Administer and assist with program development and delivery which may include process design, communications, recruitment, and finance
  • Act as an advising resource for students and faculty program requirements, academic degree progress, leaves of absence, cross-registration, adviser selection, and quality of life
  • Organize events and conferences including developing content, structure, and publicity, coordinating with other Harvard offices and groups, and planning logistical details
  • Advise student organizations on effective organizational and event management; ensure student safety
  • Prepare and analyze reports related to prospective student outreach and programs
  • May review accessibility documentation and determine accessibility eligibility
  • May work with the Title IX office in order to provide services to students
  • Interpret and clarify local and University policies and procedures for student leaders
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge of career and coaching theories is highly preferred
  • Evidence of technology skills. Preference for Salesforce knowledge or CRM platforms, and Microsoft 365 Suite including Excel, Sharepoint, and Teams
  • Excellent communications, writing, interpersonal skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting using near vision use for reading and computer use for extended periods of time
  • Lifting (approximately 20 to 30 pounds), bending, and other physical exertion
