Columbia University — Donor Relations Coordinator, Columbia College

The Donor Relations Coordinator plays an integral role in implementing a comprehensive donor relations program for Columbia College. They will perform operational, day-to-day tasks in support of the overarching stewardship program, which aims to thank, inform, inspire, engage, and recognize donors through strategic communications, reporting, and engagement activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

A. Narrative Reporting:
Columbia College has various named fund that support the strategic priorities of the College. The Coordinator will manage the annual narrative reporting process for 100 named funds. This will include:

  • Coordinating with various Columbia offices
  • Editing and formatting content and writing cover letters for narrative reports
  • Assisting with donor and fund recognition websites

B. Leadership Giving Society:
The Coordinator will develop and execute a stewardship plan for the John Jay Associates, one of Columbia College’s leadership giving societies, with a focus on thanking donors, recognizing them, demonstrating the impact of their support, and offering opportunities to deepen their engagement with the College. This will include:

  • Planning communications, including an annual report
  • Fulfilling benefits
  • Organizing stewardship events
  • Researching and proposing ideas to continue to enhance experience of John Jay Associates

C. High-Level Gift Acknowledgements:
The Coordinator will manage the gift acknowledgement process for high-level gifts to the College. This will include:

  • Writing customized letters from the Dean of Columbia College
  • Researching recipients and coordinating with staff to ensure letters are personalized

D. Volunteer Stewardship:
The Coordinator will work to develop and help execute a stewardship plan for Columbia College volunteers.

E. High-Level Stewardship Projects:
The Coordinator will assist with crafting a variety of customized stewardship projects, annual reports, and other communications for high-level donors and giving societies.

F. Data Management:
The Coordinator will help maintain the integrity of data for the College’s named funds and John Jay Associates.
