The Department of Nutritional Sciences (NS) seeks an energetic faculty member to join a highly successful nutrition and dietetic program. Our undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics has a recognized success rate of placing graduates at dietetic internships across the country. The dietetic internship is equally as successful with an employment rate of 95% or better within six months of completing the internship. Both programs pass rates on the Registered Dietitian Exam is consistently close to 90% or better within one year of eligibility.

Currently we have 663 undergraduate students. In our online Masters in Nutrition & Dietetics Degree, we have 93 students, which is designed for Registered Dietitians. The dietetic internship has 18-22 students accepted annually. The NS department has 20 full time and 8 part time faculty with strong teaching and/or research backgrounds.

This person will be responsible for teaching up to four nutrition-related courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate level. In addition, they need to stay abreast with the latest research and standard of practice and update courses accordingly. This person may also be required to assist with the Didactic Program in Dietetics and the Dietetic Internship, engage in outreach activities, and perform service to the department, college, university, and the profession. Service duties include program building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications: An earned master’s in dietetics, nutrition, public health, or related disciplines. Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration for a minimum of 10 years. Have a Texas Dietitian License on or before the first day of employment. Employed in the field of nutrition for a minimum of 10 years. Demonstrated record of teaching nutrition-related face-to-face and online courses. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in multiple fields of nutrition or related fields. Experience with accreditation requirements for DPD and dietetic internship programs. Demonstrated record of teaching at the university level. Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods. Experience developing courses for face-to-face as well as online delivery. Leadership within the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or other related professional associations. Experience working with diverse student populations and first-generation students is highly desirable.
