The Department of Psychology and Philosophy in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sam Houston State University invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in Clinical Psychology to work with the Masters programs beginning in the Fall of 2022. The Department of Psychology & Philosophy is launching a cluster hiring initiative to appoint up to five tenure-track faculty members who(se): 1) bring visibility, renown, and additional impact to our department, 2) add to a long -standing goal of increasing diversity (e.g., ethnic, LGBTQI+, religious, etc.) across our department, and 3) intellectual and pedagogical expertise engages racial intersectionality.

The department seeks two applicants with interests and expertise in clinical psychology to contribute to its graduate and undergraduate programs. Duties will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses as needed (e.g., multicultural psychology, experimental design, ethics, practicum, other clinically-related courses); developing a productive research program and mentoring undergraduate and Masters students; and serving on the Masters Psychology Programs Committee.  Candidates must be committed to a student-centered approach and have a passion for teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Candidates should have a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited Psychology program and must be eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. Applications from individuals who are ABD will be considered, but the doctoral degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Sam Houston State University is located in Huntsville, Texas, in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas approximately one hour north of the ethnically and culturally diverse Houston metropolitan area.
