Georgian Court University — Athletic Director

Georgian Court University, founded by the Sisters of Mercy of New Jersey in 1908, provides a comprehensive liberal arts education in the Roman Catholic Tradition. Our next leader, reporting to the Provost, will lead all facets of the Athletics Department and will be an integral member of the President’s leadership team.

The Director of Athletics provides vision and leadership for the university’s Athletics programs. This individual is expected to demonstrate conscientious knowledge of, and adherence to, the rules and regulations of the NCAA, the CACC and all applicable college policies and regulations.

Essential Functions:

  • The Director provides guidance and support to the teams and their coaches, ensures that regular planning (strategic and operational) and assessment are performed, and provides guidance and support for all other administrative functions within the department.
  • The Director oversees the coaches and has four other administrative direct reports. The individual is responsible for overall personnel management and fostering a positive work environment for the department as a whole.
  • The Director is responsible for budget management of the department and its 14 intercollegiate sports.
  • The Director cultivates an inclusive environment and promotes diversity and equity in all areas of the department.
  • The Director ensures that student-athletes see themselves as students first and provides programming for athletes as a whole, beyond the individual team experience.
  • The Director fosters a winning culture for all programs.
  • The Director works closely with admissions and financial aid to align and streamline recruitment.
  • The Director works with institutional advancement to develop and implement a coordinated strategic plan for fundraising (including sponsorships) and alumni engagement.


  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or Doctoral/Terminal degree preferred;
  • Experience working in an NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program preferred;
  • Successful experience as an intercollegiate athletics administrator preferred;
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with demonstrated competence in program development, administration, decision-making and fiscal management skills;
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of athletics including, but not limited to, fundraising, marketing, and facilities management;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment and with diverse populations of students, faculty, staff, alumni, public and the media;
  • Demonstrated commitment to all facets of student-athlete welfare including academic success;
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate the Athletics Department into the university and local/national communities
  • Demonstrated personal and professional integrity;
  • Ability to integrate the core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice, and service in all aspects of the department.
