Georgetown's Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), founded in 1919, is a premier school of international affairs. SFS provides a rigorous education grounded in both theory and practice while instilling the Jesuit value of service.

The Assistant Director for Employer Outreach plays a critical role in the SFS Graduate Career Center (GCC), contributing career advice and industry expertise to the delivery of value-added, employer outreach and engagement services for more than 1,500 SFS graduate students in the eight graduate programs, as well as the Department of Government, and over 5,000 alumni. They are the GCC outreach strategist, targeting employer partnerships, and outreach and relationship management; manage more than 6,500 current employer relationships; and use industry data and client feedback to develop engagement strategies for new employers in key industries. The Assistant Director manages employer profiles in CRM systems, over 8,000 annual job postings, application deadlines, employer information sessions and site visits.

Reporting to the GCC Executive Director, and working closely with faculty, staff, students, employers, alumni and other stakeholders who may influence the career path of the students, the Assistant Director for Employer Outreach focuses on both domestic and international opportunities and manages the cross-functional employer engagement assignments to GCC staff, including career counselors and the Associate Director. Duties include but are not limited to:

Employer Development

  • Develop and implement a robust strategy to target new employers for jobs and internships, as well as industry partnerships
  • Conduct proactive research on industry trends, provide routine reports to GCC staff
  • Ensure employer engagement reflects student/alumni interest across sectors
  • Manage the GCC calendar that relates to employer visits and related events
  • Oversee communication and outreach to employers and alumni via emails, surveys and digital newsletters
  • Execute targeted career treks for students in all sectors
  • Manage all On Campus Recruiting (OCR) efforts for GSFS students and alumni
  • Manage communication and logistics for all employer related programs and events
  • Target and assign employer prospects sessions to counseling staff in consultation with Director and Associate Director
  • Manage employer interaction with student clubs
  • Liaise with career centers on campus, BSFS, NACE, and APSIA to forge and manage employer relationships, and develop more access to employers

System and Program Management

  • Work directly with the Data Analytics Manager to ensure data updates and data integrity relating to employers in the CRM systems
  • Manage all job posting entries and deadlines
  • Oversee OCR interview sign-ups, resume books, and employer uploads
  • Provide weekly reports of OCR, job postings and new employer relationship activity
  • Ensure all employer and job related data aligns with student/alumni interests and industry/sector trends
  • Track alumni employer engagement
  • Manage kiosk registrations and events using the CRM systems
  • Develop and implement regular surveys to employers and alumni employers targeting candidate readiness, success and employer hiring needs
  • Track student hires with OCR employer firms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in counseling, higher education administration, international relations, business or equivalent degree
  • At least 4 years of related professional experience in a top-tier higher-education environment or corporate/government/non-profit environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public, private, not-for-profit and multilateral employment sectors
  • Proven ability to forge strategic long-term partnerships with employers/alumni in the local, regional, and international markets
  • Strong public speaking and communication skills, and excellent executive presence
  • Experience with management functions of related CRM systems
  • Strong customer service orientation and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in technologies related to the position, including CRM systems and other career-services software
