University of Colorado Denver — Two Tenured / Tenure-Track Positions, School of Public Affairs

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) seeks to fill the following 2 tenured/tenure-track positions to start in August 2022. 

1. Assistant Professor in Public Administration: 

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) seeks to hire a full-time (9-month academic year) tenure-track Assistant Professor in Public Administration to start August 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both the Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration (BAPA), the Master of Public Administration (MPA) and PhD programs and to maintain an active research and publication record. 

We are searching in the broad area of public administration/management, and we are open to various sub-field areas of expertise. Interest in social equity, civil society, social vulnerabilities, nonprofit management, collaborative governance, emergency management, local government, and/or performance management would be particularly valuable. 

The normal class teaching load is 2:2 and can involve teaching opportunities in our PhD in Public Affairs, MPA, and BA in Public Service programs. Applicants should be willing to teach in both face-to-face and online formats. Additional summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation.

2. Assistant Professor in Criminology and Criminal Justice 

The School of Public Affairs (SPA) at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver) seeks to hire a full-time (9-month academic year) tenure-track Assistant Professor in Criminal Justice to start August 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both the Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (BACJ) and Master of Criminal Justice (MCJ) programs and to maintain an active research and publication record. Preferred areas of specialization include Courts and Sentencing, Corrections, Juvenile Justice/Delinquency, and/or Racial/Ethnic Inequalities in the Criminal Justice System. We are open to a variety of methodological approaches. The normal teaching load is 2:2 and requires teaching in both face-to-face and online formats. Additional summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation. 

SPA is one of the only comprehensive School of Public Affairs in the Rocky Mountain region. Degrees granted include the Ph.D. in Public Affairs, the Master of Criminal Justice, the Master of Public Administration, the B.A in Criminal Justice, and the B.A. in Public Administration. SPA has 9 criminal justice faculty who are nationally-recognized scholars and teachers in the areas of domestic violence, corrections, criminological theory, gangs, gender and crime, policing, statistics and research methods, and victimology. The online MCJ program is ranked #24 in the nation by US News and World Report. The School of Public Affairs, within which the criminal justice program is housed, is ranked #25 overall and #1 in Colorado. SPA has 28 full- time faculty members.
