Bryn Mawr College has an opening for a Program Coordinator (PC) in our STEMLA Fellows Program.

THE POSITION

The Science, Technology, Engineering and Math in the Liberal Arts (STEMLA) Fellows Program at Bryn Mawr College invites applications for the full-time position of Program Coordinator (PC). The STEMLA Fellows Program is a free, interdisciplinary, college-transition program designed for first-generation, low-income (FGLI) undergraduate students entering Bryn Mawr College. The STEMLA Fellows Program aims to support FGLI students with a demonstrated interest in STEM through an early-matriculation residential summer program that replicates the liberal arts experience and through academic-year supports and opportunities, including faculty mentors and STEM career exploration activities.

The PC will be responsible for all STEMLA program administration, including student outreach and recruitment (in coordination with the Admissions team), program budget management, event and activity planning, facilitation of student-faculty mentorships, academic scheduling for STEMLA Fellows (in conjunction with faculty director), and planning and supervision of the residential summer immersion program. The PC will work with the program’s faculty director to interface with various campus constituents, including undergraduate students, Admissions, the Career and Civic Engagement Center, Undergraduate Deans’ Office, Residential Life, the Pensby Center for Community Development and Inclusion, and STEM faculty.

Qualified candidates will be able to creatively engage students utilizing a variety of strategies and methods of communication and information sharing and have strong group-facilitation skills.  Experience with educational program development, implementation and assessment are all important as is an understanding of the unique challenges facing FGLI students.

Requirements include:

  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends for programming outside of regular business hours.
  • At least two years’ experience teaching and/or working with students in a higher education setting, or any combination of experience, education, and training that provides the necessary skills, abilities, and knowledge for success in this position.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Background in a STEM discipline is a plus.
