Academic Affairs

Summary of Job Duties:
The Executive Director of Institutional Research and Strategic Planning works closely with Senior Staff and other university leaders to produce and analyze data and to generate reports that assist with making data-informed, strategic decisions. This position will also develop and maintain a comprehensive program of institutional research to create an institutional warehouse database, facilitate institutional assessment, quality improvement, and external reporting. The EDIRSP assesses the effectiveness of data used for decision making, identifies external data sources and assesses how it might be used to meet university goals, and assures the university is meeting data compliance reporting requirements. The position reports to Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in data analytics, computer science, higher education research or related field.
  • Five years of experience in higher education. 
  • Three years of experience in institutional research 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in data analytics, computer science, higher education research or related field.
  • Two years of experience in institutional research.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to monitor and support a university-wide strategic plan.
  • Demonstrated ability in data mining/modeling.
  • Knowledge of various data tools, such as Tableau, SAS, SPSS, etc.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensure that meaningful and accurate data are available to inform university decisions and planning.
  • Support the development, assessment, refinement and implementation of university strategies through the effective use of data.
  • Develop and manage a university-wide data management plan.
  • Facilitate priority setting concerning the university’s data collection and analysis plan.
  • Coordinate with program leaders across campus to identify enrollment and retention trends to develop and enhance enrollment strategies.
  • Work with IT to continually assess and recommend enhancements to the university’s data governance practices, data structures, and relevant technical tools and applications.
  • Provide innovative leadership in the identification and design of interventions to effect improvement.
  • Provide collaborative leadership in identifying metrics and benchmarks to evaluate university initiatives and operations.
  • Analyze data and transform it into actionable, easy to understand information
  • Manage all institutional data analysis and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit timely reports to various agencies (Arkansas Division of Higher Education, IPEDS, U.S. News & World Report, etc.)
  • Monitor and disseminate data used in funding formula calculations.
