The Academic Advisor provides academic advising and career counseling to students enrolled in the College of Education and Human Ecology (EHE). Convey curricular information and assists students in selecting courses consistent with their developing goals and interests. Documents and maintains notes of interactions with students. Helps students to understand university and college procedures. Working with other members of the Survey Committee, who will be drawn from both the Student Services and Advising unit and Recruitment, Retention and Engagement unit, will design, review and assess the survey course (EHE 1100) for first-year and transfer undergraduate students.  As a member of the committee, will work collaboratively to teach one or more sections, as time and duties allow. Participates in new student orientation sessions. Assists with recruitment activities as needed. Possesses knowledge of all university and college offices related to student experience, from admissions to graduation and makes referrals as appropriate. Attends staff meetings.  Will collaborate with the larger Academic Affairs unit on a range of team-based initiatives, including committee work, support of advising, recruitment and scholarship and honors student events, and other duties as assigned. Occasional evening hours as needed.   

Required:  A Master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration, Guidance and Counseling or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Successful completion of a background check and reference(s). Knowledge of OSU academic policies and procedures. A brief statement on ideas and or initiatives taken to advance DEI goals.

This is a two year position with potential extension for a third year.

The target hiring range is $40,000 – $45,000/annually.
