Muskingum University — Coordinator of Student Leadership and Engagement

Muskingum University invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Student Leadership and Engagement. This is an opportunity to join an energetic division of Student Affairs educators, who support our students outside of the classroom.

Reporting to the Director of Student Leadership and Engagement, this full-time, ten-month position provides the opportunity to support the development of students’ leadership skills and promote the engagement of Muskingum University students in a variety of activities and experiences. The Coordinator of Student Leadership and Engagement coordinates new student programs, including Muskie Preview and Move-In/Welcome Weekend, and supports commuter student services and programs. As a generalist in Student Affairs, the Coordinator is an integral member of the Student Affairs team, providing programs designed to support and enhance student success.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop programming and services that supports undergraduate students’ transition to college, engages them in first year experiences, and promotes persistence and student success. This includes, but is not limited to, Muskie Preview, Welcome Weekend, and Student Involvement Fair (fall and spring).
  • Serve as a member of cross-disciplinary teams of student affairs, academic affairs, and admissions personnel in planning, delivering, and evaluating major first year program events.
  • Hire, train, advise, and evaluate Muskie Programming Board.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate Muskie Preview Orientation leaders.
  • Work closely with the Director of Leadership and Engagement in managing budgets for Muskie Preview and First Year opening events
  • Advise commuter student activities and develop programming to support their unique needs.
  • Assist with all aspects of Muskiepalooza, including the coordination and assessment of events.
  • Live in apartment located with Muskingum University residence hall and serve on all campus duty rotation. Other duties as assigned.

Desired qualifications: Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Personnel, or related field preferred. Applied experience in supporting first year and new student programs. Demonstrated ability to engage students and motivate them to strive for growth. Commitment to educating and supporting a diverse student, faculty, and staff population, and to striving for inclusive excellence in all aspects of program delivery.
