We are excited to welcome to our Innovator Supports team a creative and energetic Senior Project Manager (SPM) for Instructional Design. The Innovator Supports team works to bridge the research/action gap by providing a range of capacity building experiences including training, workshops and ongoing consultation to help key stakeholders in the field of ECD (public leaders, policymakers, model developers, family advocates, etc.) build the capacities they need to increase the impact and scale of early childhood programs and policies, as well as their alignment with what we know from the science of early childhood and adversity. The SPM’s core responsibilities will be to contribute to the concept, design, development, and delivery of high-quality, high-impact online and in-person learning experiences for key stakeholders in the field of early childhood, while also being a versatile and flexible member of the team who can take on a wide range of responsibilities appropriate to the SPM role.

The SPM will report to the Assistant Director of Innovation Strategies and serve as a key member of the content development team (overseen by the Senior Specialist for Innovator Supports) working to develop curricula, programs, toolkits and other learning experiences that make the science of early childhood actionable and support the field in increasing the impact and scalability of innovations.

The ideal candidate will bring a passion for adult/professional/executive education, an orientation towards connecting research to practice, an understanding of creative pedagogical approaches to adult learning, a collaborative and customer-oriented mindset, strong project management skills, and knowledge of or interest in learning about early childhood, public policy, and the needs and concerns of decision makers in this sphere.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

  • Play a lead role in the development and delivery of a capacity-building experience for policy makers and other public leaders in Latin America (Latin America Leaders Learning Experience-LALLE) that focuses on strengthening scientific knowledge to inform more effective intervention strategies and policies, including play-based strategies that can foster resilience and improve learning and health outcomes for young children. Contribute to the development of other products for a range of stakeholders as needed.
  • Engage with communities of subject matter experts, including faculty and staff (at Harvard and other institutions), field-based and subject matter experts to support content and instructional design and develop resources for presentation/facilitation staff.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with internal colleagues and external partners to create and execute workplans that ensure production deadlines are met and products are in alignment with: HCDC’s content and commitment to equity; agreed upon learning objectives; and accepted best practice with respect to pedagogy, instruction, and use of technologies/media. Communicates regularly and effectively with team members and stakeholders throughout the development process.
  • Works with team to develop and maintain project documentation and systems for organizing and tracking materials.
  • Contributes to the development of a learning agenda and evaluation plan for assessing the efficacy and acceptability of products. Analyze and act on faculty/instructional staff feedback, participant feedback, and market data, identifying opportunities to strengthen, revise, and adapt programs.
  • Participate in, contribute to and lead internal team project and cross-workstream meetings and activities focused on reflective practice, integration of research, pedagogical innovation and provision of technical assistance. Builds thoughtful, effective and engaging agendas.
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations (including but not limited to accessibility guidelines)

Additional responsibilities, as needed and determined by workload and candidates’ background:

  • Develop and steward relationships and scopes of work for projects that will sustain and scale the Center’s efforts, in coordination with Partnerships team
  • Conduct market research using quantitative and qualitative methods such as interviews, focus groups, and surveys
  • Research potential partners in development of new products and services

This is a 2-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal.

Basic Qualifications

  • B.A. required. Minimum 3 years of related field or work experience (advanced degree may count towards work experience).

Additional Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree preferred, in education or related field
  • Experience and effective skills in curriculum development and learning experience design for adult learners, ideally in the area of executive education
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning pedagogy and online learning practices
  • Ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders ranging from faculty to learning designers to learning experience participants to IT professionals in an effort to ensure development resources are aligned with goals
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to and foundational knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging principles and bring an anti-racist/anti-bias lens to content and teaching practices
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize across multiple concurrent projects and tasks
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines and levels of expertise
  • Expertise in multimedia, learning technology tools and project management applications
  • Aptitude for learning and applying new content quickly and effectively
  • Ability to work constructively independently and as a team in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and adapt approach as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills, including ability to develop and deliver high quality presentations
  • Ability to speak/understand Spanish/Portuguese a plus

Please Note once Harvard resumes regular operations this position will no longer be remote and work will be performed on campus in Cambridge MA.
