Supervising & Staff Development Educator

Position Overview
As part of MSU Extension (MSUE) and the Health and Nutrition Institute (HNI), this position provides leadership to the Nutrition and Physical Activity (NPA) program and paraprofessional staff in Districts 4 and 14, including Emmet, Charlevoix, Otsego, Montmorency, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Alpena, Crawford, Roscommon, Oscoda, Ogemaw, Alcona, Iosco, and Arenac counties.

In this position, you will lead efforts related to recruiting and onboarding of new paraprofessional staff and will oversee development for existing paraprofessional staff. You will learn grant compliance requirements, approved curriculum, and policy, system and environmental change strategies to allow you to coach staff in implementing appropriate NPA education. Through your leadership, you will be responsible for guiding staff as they implement Supplemental Nutrition and Physical Activity Program Education (SNAP-Ed) approaches.

Through collaboration in research, engagement with community members, and dissemination of information through various methods, including in- person and multimedia programming and written communications, you will collaborate with staff to implement programs that lead to public knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that empower limited resource adults, families and youth to gain crucial knowledge about nutrition and healthy foods, increase their daily physical activity, and reduce their food and nutrition insecurity. You will also develop NPA outreach materials with messaging and content that is accessible and inclusive and is consistent with HNI messaging.

Your work will include collaboration with colleagues at MSU and MSUE, as well as the diverse network of partner groups to ensure that programming meets the needs of the clientele and is in alignment with funder and/or MSUE expectations.

Although negotiable, there will be space available for this position to work from the Otsego County MSUE office.
