JOB SUMMARY: The User Services Windows Desktop Systems Administrator is a key member on a team of five enthusiastic and knowledgeable professionals responsible for providing desktop technology support for the students, faculty, and staff of Gustavus Adolphus College. This individual manages the Windows software installation/update infrastructure. They will also need to offer a high level of hands-on service and support to the community. The selected individual will report to the Director of User Services.


  • Maintain and update the Windows installation/update infrastructure, and related applications such as SCCM
  • Provide tiers 1 and 2 Windows desktop and other technology support to the campus community.
  • Develop and refine systems and processes to facilitate the refresh and replacement of Windows-based hardware and software.
  • Assist with the hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and support of 35+ student employees.
  • Participate in the shared management of the technology helpline, which includes monitoring the flow of support requests through the ticket tracking system to ensure timely response and resolution rates, as well as escalation control.
  • Act as a liaison between campus community members and specialized IT support teams.
  • Provide full-service desktop and laptop support that includes everything from data backups and restoration, to hardware delivery and setup.
  • Assist with the management of lab technology, including routine maintenance and performance evaluations
  • Design, test, and document solutions that meet the College's business requirements
  • Provide end-user training to help offices continually improve their ability to work with technology
  • Work collaboratively and supportively in a challenging and rewarding team-based environment
  • All other duties as assigned


  • Demonstrated experience with Windows, and operating systems deployment.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer (Windows) and mobile hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, including initiative, follow-through, and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and dedication to delivering exceptional customer-oriented results.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, performed in small group settings and via email, chat, etc.
