The Mary Black School of Nursing seeks a tenure-track Associate Professor of Nursing and Director of Nursing Research beginning August 16, 2021. The Director of Nursing Research will split their time evenly between administrative and teaching functions, and will report directly to the Dean of the School of Nursing. The Director will provide support and guidance for all faculty regarding scholarship and research activities within the School. Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership for research;
  • Mentoring faculty in writing and submitting for publication and grant funding;
  • Providing support to faculty, including pre- and post- grant award support and regulatory oversight;
  • Assuring the ethical, regulatory, and scientific integrity of research conduction in the School;
  • Maintaining scholarly productivity and seeking grant funding in order to serve as a role model;
  • Guiding tenure-track faculty in progression towards tenure (i.e. portfolio development, scholarly activities, etc.), and assisting in the development of self-evaluations for annual review in regards to research and scholarly productivity;
  • Contributing to the strategic planning of the School;
  • Gathering and reporting individual faculty and aggregate outcomes for scholarship to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory and accrediting bodies;
  • Serving on university committees

    The ideal candidate will be innovative and flexible, organized and detail-oriented, as well as possessing excellent written and oral communication skills and experience working in diverse environments.

    Minimum qualifications: A research doctoral degree in Nursing or related field is required. Candidates should meet disciplinary requirements for research and scholarship at the rank of Associate Professor or higher with evidence of a consistently high level of scholarly productivity and sustained program of research. Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Registered Nurse in South Carolina is required.

    Preferred Qualifications: Experience in academic leadership roles (Asst. or Assoc. Dean, Chair, Director, Coordinator) preferred. Experience in the academic development of professional teachers of Nursing preferred.
