UConn Recreation — Manager, Operations & Facilities

JOB SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Operations and Facilities, the Manager of Operations & Facilities, is responsible for the daily administrative and operational support of the Student Recreation Center and satellite recreational facilities. This position implements a wide variety of day-to-day responsibilities designed to ensure operational performance and provide quality service to members of the Student Recreation Center. Weekend and evening work is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Personnel Management

  1. Provide supervisory support to student employees in the performance of their daily responsibilities
  2. Promote and maintain high-quality performance standards for facility operations student personnel
  3. Implement ongoing student employee training and development programs
  4. Evaluate student employee performance, providing written evaluations on an annual basis
  5. Maintain employee scheduling, monitor for accuracy, and provide payroll verification
  6. Work in collaboration with Recreation Human Resources to hire new student personnel

Facility Management

  1. Serve as Recreation Center Manager on Duty ensuring facility policy, maintenance, safety, and customer service needs are met
  2. Provide logistical support for programmatic units with the delivery of member services
  3. Drive department vehicles in support of satellite operations including implementation and supervision of scheduled special events
  4. Coordinate facility and equipment maintenance with internal and external constituents
  5. Implement risk management policy and procedure for all facility activities
  6. Provide timely and accurate incident, accident, risk management, financial, and maintenance reporting
  7. Maintain accurate and accessible records related to all facility operations
  8. Maintain accurate inventory of all facilities equipment and operational resources
  9. Provide direct support of events hosted by UConn Recreation
  10. Develop and expand professional knowledge of facility and maintenance operations in order to ensure quality and meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff

Planning & Assessment

  1. Provide timely and accurate reporting of recreation facility participant usage data
  2. Recommend operational and programmatic changes based on continuing need assessment
  3. Assist in the development of annual operating budget

Additional Duties

  1. Provide leadership for assigned departmental programs and events
  2. Instruct CPR/First Aid/AED classes for student employees and the UConn Community
  3. Serve on department or university assigned committees
  4. Additional duties as requested by supervisor or departmental leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of related experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills necessary to independently manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills necessary for effective work relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate information
  • Demonstrated understanding of, stated commitment to and/or experience working with diverse populations
  • Current Adult CPR/AED Certification
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to acquire Connecticut Passenger “A” endorsement or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Documented professional experience in facility and operations management
  • Direct experience working in student or customer service
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating employee development and training
  • Demonstrated experience integrating principles of diversity and inclusion into all aspects of competitive sports management
  • Proficient with software applications related to department operations (e.g. Fusion, Connect2Concepts, Sub-it-Up)
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Certification
