Penn State Harrisburg, a comprehensive College of The Pennsylvania State University, is excited to welcome applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director of Career Services for the Kunkel Career Center.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Services, this individual will oversee delivery of all services, programming, and event planning to ensure career readiness and post-graduate outcomes. The Assistant Director will provide supervision to both professional and student staff, consultation to faculty and employers, outreach to campus and community partners, and budget management for the unit. This position is also responsible for tracking and analyzing data to generate reports for informed decision making and strategic planning. The Assistant Director is a member of the Leadership Team for Student Affairs.

Additional duties include delivering innovative classroom presentations and workshops for internal and external groups as well as providing document reviews and career counseling. This individual will represent Career Services at events including Admissions Open Houses, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and Academic conferences. On occasion, these events may require some evening or weekend hours. This position is also expected to engage in regional networking, career consortium groups, and campus and system-wide committee work.

Typical requirements for this position are a Master's Degree or higher in Counseling Psychology, Counselor Education, Student Affairs, Higher Education or a related discipline or a related degree plus eight years of related experience working in career services management and/or advising, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. This position requires the successful completion of standard background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

Previous supervisory experience is preferred or a demonstrated history of leadership. Applicants should have experience with outreach to employers, alumni, and faculty/staff as this position will cultivate relationships with targeted employers, academic departments, and student affairs offices. The successful candidate should communicate clearly both verbally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Applicants should have basic technological skills and the willingness to learn new technology. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, polished presentation skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and possess a proven track record of working effectively within a team environment.
