The mission of UCLA Neuroscience, one of six major research themes within UCLA Health Sciences, is to develop and foster visible concentrations of excellence in basic and interdisciplinary neuroscience at UCLA. To ensure the continued engagement and support for UCLA Health System's enterprise, we seek a Director of Development, Neuroscience to keep vital research and initiatives in motion.

As Director, you will implement and manage a robust fundraising program to enhance visibility and build private support for the Division of Geriatrics and other areas under the broader Neuroscience Theme, such as the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Health Sciences Development and as part of a dynamic team of professionals, you will help establish goals and objectives for these program areas, evaluate progress to goals, and coordinate strategies for fundraising, stewardship, cultivation and communications. In addition, you will personally cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects with a focus on building diversity in their donor portfolio where possible. As Director, you will foster a culture of philanthropy with the Division of Geriatrics Board of Advisors, in addition to other advisory boards within the Neuroscience Theme.
Candidates for this role must possess a minimum of three years of development experience with an emphasis on health sciences, grateful patient, and major gift fundraising or prior experience working with solicitations of a similar scope, nature and complexity. You will have demonstrated success in a highly matrixed organization coupled with a successful track record building a culture of philanthropy and strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. You have strong planning and management skills, and an understanding of major gift fundraising, preferably in an academic medical school setting. Your prior experiences have given you proficiency in how to develop and implement successful strategies for identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals, corporations, and foundations.
