CSUN's Tseng College provides advanced professional education to undergraduate, graduate, international and midcareer students. With more than $38 million in revenue and more than 28,700 total enrollments in 2019-2020, the College is a leading provider of professional degrees, certificates and custom-designed programs. Known for its premier support services, the College employs an administrative staff of more than 70 full-time employees, leading to high graduation rates – 74-93 percent for most programs in 2019-2020, with some, like the Master of Social Work and Accelerated B.S. Nursing, achieving 98 percent in 2019-2020.

The College is nationally recognized for providing programs with formats, delivery modes and locations that address the needs and constraints facing working professionals and their organizations. It works closely with businesses, communities, agencies and international partners to design and deliver programs that meet unique organizational needs and goals.

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for ensuring that through a combination of excellence in marketing research, data gathering and analysis of current enrollment, and effectiveness of marketing tactics, marketing, public relations, and communications strategies, the programs and services offered by the College are successfully sold to the target audiences. The incumbent is responsible for managing the allocated market research and marketing funding of the College to achieve maximum advantage.

  • Ensures there is a compelling and comprehensive case created for each program as well as for portfolios of programs targeted to particular industries/fields of practice and that the marketing strategy is built around smart approaches to deploying that case messages to the target audiences using the most effective range of traditional and digital marketing, PR, and communications tools
  • Contributes to the success of CSUN's overall messaging and branding efforts whenever possible in developing marketing and communications strategies for self-support programs.
  • Responsible for the collaborative and positive working culture of IMC and for the professional growth (so that the team remains on the forefront in all aspects of the work), support, and productivity of the staff.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field. Master's degree in Marketing or Business Administration with and emphasis in marketing is preferred.
  • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience, preferably in marketing; with 2 of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
  • Experience in marketing higher education, or similar products and services is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership

  • Broad ranging knowledge and experience with newer modes of web and digital marketing and the use of the technology tools most important to marketing in contemporary context.
  • Ability to manage the marketing unit and marketing team as well as managing projects and clients with skill and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and reliability, manage details, create and stick to working schedules and action plans, handle multiple projects, set priorities, and to anticipate and address potential problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft clear and logical letters and reports, write marketing copy that is compelling and appropriate for higher education and edit copy.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
  • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $110,004 to $118,008, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
