Georgia Southern University — Distinguished Scholar in Guitar / Music Industry (Assistant Professor of Music)

Position Description: Distinguished Scholar in Guitar/Music Industry. Academic (10-month) appointment (tenure available). Salary competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. Successful candidate will be Program Coordinator for Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry program and public representative for the Gretsch Instrument Collection. Duties include: a) teaching applied guitar; b) teaching music industry courses; c) acting as program coordinator for BA Music Industry; d) advancing the public face of the Gretsch Collection through regular clinics, performances, and scholarship; e) additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in music industry or closely-related field
  • Guitar as primary instrument
  • Music industry experience
  • Willingness to engage with institutional student success initiatives
  • Commitment to engaging with best-practice initiatives in instruction and pedagogy, mentoring, and curricular design and development
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States for the duration of employment without assistance from the institution
