Bates College — Associate Dean and Director of the Office of Intercultural Education

The Associate Dean will be responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership for the Office of Intercultural Education (OIE). This hands-on position provides direct support for an increasingly diverse Bates College community utilizing excellent customer service skills. The Associate Dean will manage, lead, and develop a dynamic and high-functioning team of professional and student staff, charged with creating a holistic, student-centered environment that cultivates community, connection, and belonging, provides educational opportunities and resources for students’ success, and facilitates engagement with the broader campus community. The Associate Dean will oversee and support the team in designing, implementing, and assessing a set of robust, cohesive, and integrated programs that foster the academic, co-curricular, personal, and postgraduate success of BIPOC, LGBTQIAP2+, and first-generation students. Additional responsibilities include financial planning and operational budget oversight; developing partnerships across the institution; representing the OIE on campus committees and working groups; serving as a resource and partner for on-campus constituencies engaged in anti-racism, intersectionality, and social justice work; and additional duties as assigned.
