Job Description:
SUNY Empire State College seeks to appoint a faculty and program director of nursing who will join the School of Nursing and Allied Health. The School is dynamic, growing, and dedicated to providing high quality accessible undergraduate and graduate education to health professionals and offers nursing degrees such as: the RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing, the Master of Science in Nursing Administration, the Master of Science in Nursing Education, and a post-graduate certificate in Nursing Education.

The faculty and program director responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Direct supervision of nursing faculty.
  • Providing leadership in the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and professional growth and development of nursing faculty.
  • Working with the School of Nursing and Allied Health dean, chair, and faculty to ensure academic program and course quality.
  • Working with the School of Nursing and Allied Health dean, chair, and faculty to lead continuous program improvement, including successful accreditation actions.
  • Working with the School of Nursing and Allied Health dean, chair, and faculty to establish corporate and community college partnerships.
  • Providing administrative oversight of term scheduling and the SONAH catalog.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must hold a Master of Science in Nursing plus earned doctorate.
  • R.N. licensure (or eligibility) in New York State.
  • Full-time faculty experience at the level of associate or full professor, or a record of accomplishment in teaching, scholarship and service sufficient to have earned the rank of associate or full professor.
  • At least 3-years of successful academic leadership experience at the department chair level or higher.
  • Online college-level teaching experience in nursing education.
  • Experience with adult learning, nursing program development and nursing accreditation processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching in or managing nursing undergraduate and graduate online programs.
  • Experience with pre-licensure nursing community college and or corporate partnerships with bachelor’s degree completion programs.

Special Information:

  • Work hours: Monday thru Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Anticipated start date: 7/1/2021

Rank/Salary:  Tenure-track, Associate or Full Professor, 12-month appointment, salary commensurate with experience.
