New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Four African Americans

Robyn S. Hadley was appointed vice president and chief student affairs officer at the University of Virginia, effective June 1. She has been serving as associate vice chancellor and dean for scholar programs at Washington University in St. Louis.

Hadley is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she majored in public policy analysis, She earned a master’s degree in political science as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford.

Shaun Lewis was named director of its Office of Facilities Management at Dillard University in New Orleans. Lewis has been serving as the superintendent of buildings and maintenance at the Juvenile Justice Intervention Center in New Orleans. In higher education, Lewis also led facilities and maintenance teams at Southern University at New Orleans, the University of New Orleans, and Xavier University of Louisiana.

Lewis earned a bachelor of architecture degree from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Debbi Howard is the new director of alumni relations at Tennessee State University in Nashville. She spent 26 years as a civil/structural engineer with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Howard earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Tennessee State University. She holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Shajuana L. Dennard was appointed chief and director of campus police at Talladega College in Alabama. She is the first woman to hold the position. Earlier, she was an officer for the Birmingham Police Department.

Chief Dennard studied criminal justice at Jacksonville State University in Alabama.
