Coastal Carolina University — Financial Aid Counselor

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Financial Aid Counselor (Financial Aid Specialist) in Financial Aid and Scholarships. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: advising and counseling students and families on college costs, financial aid opportunities, and financial aid eligibility, promoting access to higher education through promotion of financial aid awareness, communicating clearly and concisely to perspective, current, and former students in a variety of mediums, handling all constituent needs in a professional, timely and positive manner, while providing the best customer service experience possible, and conducting both on and off campus presentations in support of recruitment and enrollment. 

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience is required. Prior experience in financial aid, admission, student recruitment, student services and/or student life in a college or university setting is preferred. Sensitivity to the needs of all prospective students and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and counselors is expected. Additionally, a successful candidate should possess: strong organizational skills; the ability to relate well with students and family members and work in team and independent environments; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; strong computer skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; a willingness to assist current and prospective students and their families in financing a college education; the ability to read and effectively interpret policy and regulations; the ability to understand priorities and deliver projects on time; the ability to cooperate with other departments; the ability to be adaptable; outstanding oral, written, and organizational skills.

Minimal overnight travel, some nights and weekends will be required.
