Position Summary:
The Department of Curriculum & Instruction in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences at the University of Idaho is seeking an innovative scholar for a full-time (9 month), tenure-track appointment in literacy studies and education beginning August 2021. The Assistant Professor of Literacy will team with faculty, staff, and community partners in ongoing program development and instruction using a deep knowledge of the subject area of literacy and will demonstrate a commitment to the values set forth in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences C.A.R.E. Framework. The successful candidate will join with faculty in the College who share a strong commitment to increasing equitable learning opportunities in schools and society and building partnerships with Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities in addressing issues of linguicism, anti-Black racism, anti-Indigeneity, queer justice and ableism. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, expertise in elementary literacy instruction; experience working with multilingual communities and families; and experience partnering with and mentoring elementary educators.
This position is based at the UI Moscow campus.
We are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute a strong commitment in scholarship and teaching in diversity and equity initiatives through their teaching, research and service experiences.
