The Diagnostic Pathology Service at New Bolton Center (NBC), Department of Pathobiology, University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine invites applicants for a faculty position in anatomic pathology in the Academic Clinician (AC) track in Kennett Square, PA. This pathologist will be responsible for the service, education and research missions of the Mammalian Pathology Service at the New Bolton Center location of the Pennsylvania Animal Diagnostic Laboratory Service (PADLS- NBC). The successful candidate will be committed to the daily service needs of the Anatomic Pathology Section of the Diagnostic Service, which annually performs between 900-1000 autopsies and ~500 biopsies submitted internally from NBC clinical services and externally from veterinarians, producers and owners representing the Commonwealth and surrounding states. A significant component of the autopsy service contributes to infectious disease surveillance and regulatory programs that serve the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and USDA/APHIS, as well as veterinary forensics that serve regional law enforcement agencies and animal welfare organizations. The Pathology Service also provides histopathology services and animal model expertise in support of clinical research of New Bolton Center, translational research across campuses, and the Preclinical Service Core-Comparative Orthopedic Research Laboratory (PSC-CORL). This position will involve an administrative component as section head of the PADLS-NBC autopsy service, including the supervision of postmortem room prosectors. This position will also involve a significant teaching commitment to the School of Veterinary Medicine across both the New Bolton Center and Philadelphia campuses in didactic and clinical training of veterinary students and residents/house officers in the core discipline of pathology.
