Transylvania University — Visiting Assistant Professor of Education

Transylvania University (www.transy.edu), a top-tier, independent, residential liberal arts college in Lexington, Kentucky, invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Education. This is a full-time, one-year, non-tenure-track position beginning September 1, 2021. Job Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Foundations of Education, Philosophy of Education, Schooling in U.S. Culture, Learning Theory and Pedagogy, and Standards-Based Education. Other duties will include, on a rotating basis, supervision of practicum students and student teachers. A hallmark of the Transylvania Education Program is a commitment to diversity, with a strong critical and theoretical foundation in all courses, which serve both the Education teacher certification pathway/major and the Education and Social Change major and minor. The candidate will be expected to assist program colleagues with programmatic affairs and accreditation. The teaching load consists of three courses per semester, plus one short-term course in May that offers additional opportunities for innovative, team-taught courses.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction/teacher education, educational foundations, educational studies, or a related field by the start date. Experience in teaching at the P-12 level is required and college level teaching is preferred. Interest and/or experience with English Language Learners and/or immigration issues in education is also preferred, but not required.
