The Ohio State University — Assistant / Associate Professor of Corn and Emerging Crop Production Systems

The selected individual is expected to establish a nationally recognized and extramurally funded research and extension program focused on corn and emerging crops. The applicant will provide statewide, regional, and national leadership in support of Ohio State University Extension’s Agronomic Crops Team (http://agcrops.osu.edu), which develops and disseminates current science-based information and technologies aimed at improving sustainability of agronomic crop production systems. The selected individual is expected to interact with producers, industry representatives, and producer organizations and with state and regional agencies as appropriate to facilitate technology transfer and adoption of recommended agronomic practices. Research efforts may include but are not limited to the following areas: resource-efficient and environmentally compatible cropping systems, crop stress management, cropping system response to climate change, nutrient and water use efficiency, field evaluation of transgenic traits, seed treatments, grain quality and use, and production practices for emerging crops entering bio-based industries or with food-grade uses. The successful candidate will also supervise the Ohio Corn Performance Testing Program (https://u.osu.edu/perf/), advise graduate students, supervise undergraduate research projects, and attract extramural funding to support research and extension programs. The teaching expectation is to instruct one three-credit undergraduate class per academic year.

Required:
The minimum qualification for this position is an earned Ph.D. in agronomy or a closely related discipline. Desirable qualifications include knowledge of corn and emerging crop production systems; successful grant writing experience; experience in teaching undergraduate courses and advising graduate students; experience interacting with stakeholders, producers, and industry personnel.
