Coastal Carolina University — Procurement Specialist

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Procurement Specialist (Procurement Specialist II) in the Office of Procurement Services. Under limited supervision, the position reports to the Director of Procurement Services. 

Duties include, but are not limited to: developing specifications, issuing solicitations, administering pre- bid conferences and site visits, evaluating bids, and making awards for a variety of goods and services purchases; serving as contract administrator for issued purchase orders and related contracts; processing non state-contract requisitions received which do not require solicitations, including coordinating any accompanying contracts with the University’s legal area; providing backup as needed for the state contract buyer and the P-Card Administrator; advising University departments of procurement policies and methods of procurement; providing exceptional customer service to all constituents; and performing special projects and other related duties as assigned by the Director. 

Qualifications: A high school diploma and three (3) years of work experience within the procurement area of a S.C. state agency or S.C. school district to include conducting solicitations under the S.C. Procurement Code is required. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for two (2) years of the stated work experience. Preferred qualifications include five (5) years of procurement experience within the procurement area of a S.C. state agency or S.C. school district, to include conducting solicitations under the S.C. Procurement Code, and a bachelor’s degree. A Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) or Certified Public Procurement Buyer (CPPO) designation preferred. This position requires an intense level of detail. Employee must be able to handle multiple tasks and interruptions.
