University of Wisconsin-Madison Population Health Institute — Evidence & Policy Analysis Team Leader

Position summary:
The County Health Rankings & Roadmaps seeks a mid-career Evidence & Policy Analysis Team Leader to join leadership of data and science for the program in addressing root causes of health inequities through evidence-informed policy and systems changes. This position will play a lead role in applied and translational research to advance health and equity in service of local changemakers and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the UW Population Health Institute. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to advance health equity and open to utilizing multiple types of evidence. The incumbent will lead a team of researchers and analysts and collaborate with leaders program-wide in research development and dissemination to support the advancement and uptake of translational health equity research.

Principal duties:

  • Provides creative leadership and concepting for evidence and policy analysis, including exploration, documentation and incorporation of best available evidence and innovative research practices into content and product development.
  • Plans and directs the day-to-day operational activities including work prioritization, strategy, timely production, and quality review and improvement.
  • Plans, develops, and implements processes, protocols, and documentation to support quality improvement and strategy for evidence databases and product development.
  • Leads the development and production of signature products, such as What Works for Health, derivative reports, and high-quality materials appropriate for intended audiences.
  • Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of funder, media, partner, and community inquiries, including data-related rapid response, webinars, and trainings.
  • Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees.
  • Serves as a unit subject matter expert and liaison to internal and external stakeholders providing advanced level information and representing the interests of a specialized research area.
  • Supports development of policies, procedures, and institutional agreements (e.g. data security procedures and data use agreements) on behalf of the program.
  • Supports program budgeting and tracking of unit expenditures.

Master’s degree required; over 4 years of experience required.
