Job Description:
The Administrative and Business Services Manager reports to the Director of Academic, Administrative, and Research Services in Information Technology Services (ITS). The manager oversees multiple service teams for application development and engineering that span the organization. This position leads, manages, and assists the applications development and engineering teams in all areas of the software development life cycle and application support. Such areas include project management, development standards, system development, system maintenance, product quality control, and system administration.

The applications development team is responsible for localizations and integrating a proprietary ERP to support administrative systems. This includes student information systems, faculty information systems, library systems, athletics, auxiliary systems, finance/HR/procurement systems, medical and health systems, and research administration systems. The application engineering team is responsible for the balance of administrative support applications such as document imaging/management and alumni and advancement services.

This position fosters departmental relationships, manages customer demand, and applies ITS resources effectively and efficiently in alignment with University strategic goals. The successful candidate works under limited supervision in a team environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage staff assigned to the Administrative and Business Services group
  • Manage the delivery of administrative and business services (service requests, incidents, issues, and projects) within ITS
  • Manage projects in assigned service areas including PeopleSoft application upgrades and application maintenance
  • Analyze complex business processes, prepare high level technical constraint and time estimates from business requirements
  • Assist with engaging and facilitating campus advisory groups for functional area project prioritization
  • Direct daily operations of the applications development and engineering teams, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards, and setting deadlines
  • Assist with service strategy and design
  • Assist with customer and stakeholder relationship management
  • Develop and document clear service management processes
  • Continually evaluate and implement self and staff development and training needs
  • Develop the annual budget and manage expenditures associated with the assigned services
  • Be available to provide scheduled support and consultation outside normal business hours, including occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends, within reasonable professional obligation and expectation

Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization
  • At least 5 years of professional experience with software development methodology and process
  • At least 2 years of IT supervisory experience
  • Experience leading/managing the development and deployment of applications in a business environment
  • Proven ability to collect business requirements and provide solution design and build processes
  • Working knowledge of web-based software development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and oral and written communications skills as evidenced in prior positions and demonstrated throughout the recruitment process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years higher education work experience is highly preferred
  • At least 5 years of IT supervisory experience
  • Experience managing, supporting or delivering PeopleSoft Campus Solutions or comparable student information system
  • Relevant certification(s) including ITIL Foundation, PMI PMP, PMI PBA, and/or CBAP
  • Prior work experience showing evidence of application, programming and systems analysis skills
