Assistant Vice President: Auxiliary & Business Services

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Auxiliary and Business Services (A&BS) works in partnership with the Associate Vice President to provide leadership for all A&BS units, which includes: Housing and Food Services, the Bryce Jordan Center, Hospitality Services, the id+ Card Office, the University Park Airport, the Multimedia and Print Center, Transportation Services and General Stores. Total budgets for A&BS exceed $400 million. A&BS is comprised of approximately 1,200 full-time employees and 4,000 part-time employees and students.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Supervising various functions within A&BS including: accounting and business operations, information technology, marketing, payroll, budgeting and emergency planning. Advising the Associate Vice President on matters related to program budget, capital planning, the financial impact of initiatives on existing resources, and opportunities to enhance revenues and decrease expenses. Overseeing business operations, procedures and practices including long-term planning and business development for A&BS. Leading and serving on university and unit committees focused on strategy and policy. Negotiating various university-wide contracts. Cultivating a common purpose and teamwork among the various units and ensuring timely and effective communication. Promoting an environment that is ethical, civil, respectful, inclusive and welcoming. Developing effective and collaborative partnerships with entities internal and external to A&BS and the University. Assuming additional duties on behalf of the Associate Vice President and A&BS.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Typically requires a Master`s degree in finance, business, accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 10 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in a university setting. At least 5 years of experience as a director of an operational unit. Experience in maximizing fiscal and human resources, effective problem-solving skills, and an innovative program development approach with evidence of change-oriented leadership skills. A record of accomplishment as a financial/business director. Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills that encourage collaboration and cooperation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a financial/business director at a large, multi-campus, public university.
