Kendrick Brown Will Be the Next Provost at Morehouse College in Atlanta

Kendrick T. Brown will be the next provost of Morehouse College in Atlanta. He will begin his new duties in January 2021.

Dr. Brown comes to Morehouse after serving as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Redlands in Redlands, California. Prior to his five-year tenure at Redlands, Dr. Brown served as a senior administrator at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he worked as acting provost and chief academic officer, as well as associate dean of the faculty.

“Morehouse is one of the most prestigious liberal arts institutions in the country,” Dr. Brown said. “The college offers a high-caliber, high-quality education, and has produced some very strong graduates, some of whom I have interacted with throughout my career in higher education and in my travels. I have spent a good part of my career researching and understanding the experiences of Black, ingenuous, people of color. For me to be able to continue that at Morehouse, and lead the academic program and faculty is deeply satisfying to me.”

Dr. Brown earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology at what is now the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Michigan.
