Coastal Carolina University — Counselor

Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Counselor (full-time, position with benefits) in Counseling Services. 

The individual in this role will primarily serve as a Mental Health Practitioner, providing individual, couples, and group counseling. Additional responsibilities include crisis intervention, case management, on-call/after hour rotation with other counselors, and community outreach/consultation across campus. In addition to the responsibilities outlined above, this position will serve as an active support source and liaison to marginalized/minoritized populations on campus, including students of color and LGBTQIA+ students, among others. To meet this requirement, candidates must have demonstrated experience providing counseling services to diverse populations. 

Candidates must currently hold a Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field. Related professional experience is required, preferably two or more years. Candidates must be currently licensed in a field directly related to their education in South Carolina, or must obtain license within one year of employment. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in providing counseling to diverse and marginalized populations, be able to assess and intervene in a wide range of psychological disorders and developmental challenges, demonstrate the ability to perform individual, couples and group counseling, and demonstrate the ability to consult and build relationships across campus.

Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evening hours, weekend hours and periodic on-call responsibilities are required. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the University. This is a 10.5 month position.
