A Vote of Confidence for the President of Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida

The board of trustees of Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida, has voted to extend the contract of the college’s president A. Zachary Faison Jr. until 2025.  Faison became the college’s 30th president in 2018.

After the contract extension was announced, President Faison said: “I am blessed to serve with an incredible collection of board leaders, superlative administrators, and exceptionally dedicated faculty and staff who are committed to upholding a high standard of excellence by ensuring the college provides a transformative educational experience for our outstanding students.”

Adam J. Richardson, Jr., chair of the board of trustees stated that “EWC is stronger than ever and President Faison has raised the bar at essentially every level with his vision, passion, and commitment to high achievement. We are confident that he will continue to elevate the college through extraordinary leadership and academic and administrative excellence.”

Before becoming president of Edward Waters College, Faison served as general counsel and vice president for external affairs at Tuskegee University in Alabama. Earlier, he was vice president for enrollment management and student affairs at Virginia Union University in Richmond.

Faison is a magna cum laude graduate of Albany State University in Georgia, where he majored in English. He earned a juris doctorate at the University of Georgia School of Law.
