Position Description:
The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position as Director for the Center for Persons with Disabilities. The position is at the Associate/Full Professor level, on the Academic Clinician track, within the Department of Oral Medicine. The faculty will serve both as a clinical faculty leader and in an administrative role as the Director for the Care Center for Persons with Disabilities. The Personalized Care Suite will be a new 3,000 sq ft. state of the art facility that will serve an estimated 10,000 patient visits annually.  The center will provide a Dental Home for Patients whose complex medical conditions including those with physical, cognitive, or developmental special needs, frequently prevents them from receiving care in a conventional dental setting.  The Center will focus on management of oral diseases without the use of general anesthesia and educating care-givers in best practices.

The Director for the Center for Persons with Disabilities will develop, lead, teach and manage the new center.  They will have the opportunity to develop this critical new initiative including state of the art protocols for the program. The role calls for a candidate with significant experience treating patients with disabilities and complex medical issues across the lifespan. The Director will be tasked with ensuring the clinical education of both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students in the center and work in synergy with our mission of patient centered care. To this end, the Director will manage the center’s personnel, faculty, students, and patients.

Qualifications:
This full-time position calls for a person who, through excellence in leadership, patient care, scholarship, administration, and education  is able to build and maintain the center’s reputation both nationally and internationally. Candidates must hold a DMD/DDS degree and have graduated from a US accredited program. Candidates must be eligible to practice dentistry in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Hospital based training and experiences are preferred and a minimum of 5 years experience working with this patient population within the last 10 years in a treatment and administrative management capacity.
