Associate Professor and Program Director – MA Counseling Psychology

The School of Business and Applied Social Science at Holy Names University is seeking to hire a tenure-track position to lead the Masters in Counseling and Forensic Psychology. The successful applicant will be an experienced practitioner-scholar with a strong vision of what it takes to run a successful counseling psychology program. They will have great leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and will thrive in working with a diverse array of students and colleagues. Time is allotted for professional practice, which is encouraged for all faculty. This is a 12-month appointment. The successful candidate will be an active member of the campus community, which includes being widely available for student help, advising students, and serving on institutional committees.


• Provides strategic leadership to advance the teaching, research, and service/outreach missions of the department and school.
• Works closely with the Psychology faculty, students and staff, the Dean's Office, and other campus leaders to:
1. Ensure excellence in academic programs and curriculum development.
2. Facilitate faculty efforts in pursuing research grants and contracts.
3. Promote faculty and student participation in interdisciplinary research programs and service activities.
4. Expand the school's collaborations with academic, research, community, government, and industry partners.
5. Provide fiscal management and oversight of departmental operations.
• Serves as a member of the Academic Leadership Team and represents the department to students, faculty, administrators, the profession, and the general public.
• Will be an advocate for the department, as well as being a relentless advocate for student success and satisfaction.

• The candidate should have a minimum of two years' academic experience in the field of Clinical Psychology.
• Has expertise in clinical and/or psychopathology research. Teaching responsibilities will include graduate level courses in Clinical Psychology, Psychopathology, and Laboratory Methods in Psychopathology Research. Preference will be given to candidates with both teaching and research experience.
• Has deep knowledge in program development & curriculum design at the clinical and/or psychopathology research.
• Skills to lead in-depth assessments of student learning and curriculum review, which will lead to increased effectiveness and relevance.
• Previous management experience with overseeing the performance of graduate level faculty.
• Proven success with working with external agencies in developing opportunities for student internships; proficient in social media; ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines and demonstrate the ability to work with business partners and senior management.
• Must be proficient in licensing requirements for the BBS and online learning.
• Our program also values multiculturalism and social justice integration. Therefore, stronger candidates have a cross specialization with social justice or a particular cultural group. We are especially interested in expertise with Latinx and African American populations.
