Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Case Manager works closely with the Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) team to provide students with information and access to resources. The Case Manager will serve as a point of contact for students and other members of the University community who are interested in learning information about reporting incidents of gender-based misconduct, both within the University and to law enforcement, and the resources available to those involved. The Case Manager is responsible for implementing and monitoring ongoing accommodations for students going through the discipline process. The Case Manager will also work with students who have reported incidents of gender-based misconduct and are seeking accommodations but choosing not to engage the discipline process. The Case Manager must be comfortable serving as a resource to students who have experienced gender-based misconduct and students who are accused of having violated the University’s gender-based misconduct policy. The Case Manager regularly communicates and collaborates with many colleagues and offices on campus including Deans of Students, the University Title IX Coordinator, Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action, Residential Life, University Apartment Housing, Undergraduate Housing Services, Academic Affairs, Counseling and Psychological Services, Columbia Health, Sexual Violence Response, Ombuds Office, Parent and Family Programs, Columbia University Athletics and Community Development.

Responsibilities
Case Management: Provide information to students and University community members. Refer students to available resources for those who report sexual and gender-based misconduct and those involved with the student conduct process. Perform intake interviews to collect summaries of concerns and communicate possible courses of action with students, including University resources, conduct processes and law enforcement, where applicable. Advise students on their rights under University policies regarding gender-based misconduct. Meet with students to assess needs and create a case management plan. Collaborate with University partners to arrange academic and community accommodations. Implement and monitor ongoing accommodations for students. Refers students to appropriate confidential and non-confidential resources when necessary. Document case information and updates, including interim measures, referrals and accommodations in Maxient database.

Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments throughout the University to coordinate the delivery of services and ensure student needs are met. Assess, create and implement successful methods of support to students who have reported and/or are engaged in the gender-based student conduct process.

Education, Training and Program Development: Through professional organization involvement and independent research, the Case Manager is responsible for staying current on trends and issues related to the field of sexual and gender-based misconduct. Educate the University community about resources available when seeking accommodation during a sexual and gender-based conduct process. Provide information, training and coaching to administrators, student groups and student leaders. Assist in the development, implementation and analysis of surveys to gain student and stakeholder input.

Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent is required and a minimum of four years of related experience in the areas of student conduct, behavioral intervention or counseling. Knowledge of complexities surrounding sexual assault, sexual harassment and intimate partner violence cases in a university or college setting. The Case Manager must possess excellent analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to exercise superior judgment and discretion. Advanced degree preferred in higher education, student personnel administration, counseling, law, social work, psychology or related field.

Preferred Qualifications
The applicant demonstrates dedication to the principles and values of the field of student conduct and has an understanding of FERPA, Clery, Title IX and trends pertaining to student conduct administration. The applicant has demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. The applicant will be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced and detail-oriented environment.
